CBE names new associate dean

DeSalvatore is also the director of the undergraduate program.
Selected from more than 80 candidates, DeSalvatore’s extensive experience in academic administration made her the obvious choice.
After earning a master’s degree in psychological counseling and a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education, both from Columbia University, DeSalvatore began her administrative career at her alma mater. Beginning in 1986, she served as assistant to the dean at the School of Law at Columbia. She went on to assume the role of assistant dean of student and academic affairs at the School of International and Public Affairs in 1988. Ten years later, DeSalvatore took her third position at Columbia, this time with the Business School, where she served as assistant dean and director of student affairs and activities.
Joan's experience as a leader and a visionary in the world of higher education will be critical in helping the CBE faculty serve its rapidly expanding student enrollment and enhance its ties to the corporate community, says Richard M. Durand, the Herbert E. Ehlers Dean of the College of Business and Economics. Her vast array of experience makes her the perfect fit for the position.
