Bishop goes national
Bethlehem, PA – Junior goal keeper Sam Bishop has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his efforts in the Mountain Hawks 2-0 shut out win over American. Bishop and the rest of the Lehigh defense have shut out their last four opponents, which ties a school record and have eight shut outs for the year, good for second all-time.
Bishop and the rest of the defense have been stellar all season long, having allowed only three goals in a remarkable 960 minutes of action. Lehigh is now 7-1-2 on the season, 1-0-1 in Patriot League play and have gone five games overall with out being beaten.
The Mountain Hawks made their debut this week in the National Top-30 poll and are currently ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bishop ranks first in the Patriot League in shut out percentage (80%), shut outs (8) and goals against average (.28) and Lehigh as a team ranks first in the league in goals allowed (3), goals allowed per game (.28) and shutouts.
Lehigh returns to action this week with a pair of tough games. First on Tuesday, the Mountain Hawks welcome in the Kangaroos of UMKC to the Ulrich Sports Complex. Then on Friday, Patriot League foe Army pays a visit to Bethlehem. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 and can be heard live on Lehigh’s website.
