Bay Buchanan to speak on immigration
Bay Buchanan |
Her lecture, “Immigration: Time for a Moratorium,” will focus on the consequences of the country’s immigration policy, how it could be improved, and how the nation will deal with the issue of millions of illegal aliens.
Buchanan served as U.S. treasurer under the late President Ronald Reagan, and was campaign chairman for her brother, Pat Buchanan, during all three of his presidential campaigns. She also is a former commentator on CNN.
Buchanan is currently president of The American Cause, and also chairs Team America PAC, a political action committee dedicated to border security and immigration reform. Earlier this year, she announced her intention to temporarily oversee the presidential campaign of Colorado Republican Tom Tancredo, an outspoken opponent of illegal immigration.
Bay Buchanan is a well-known political pundit whose lecture will help inform students about the immigration problem and possible solutions,” says Chris Huether, president of Lehigh’s College Republicans. “After bills in Congress died earlier in the year, we feel that immigration reform will be a big issue in the 2008 election and Bay's lecture will make students more aware of the issue.
In addition to the College Republicans, Buchanan’s talk is sponsored by the Visiting Lectures Committee, the Dean of Students office, the political science department, the Lehigh Patriot, the Student Senate and the Young America’s Foundation.
