199 named to Academic Honor Roll
Lehigh student-athletes have earned a reputation as students who excel on the athletic fields, as well as in the classroom. The Fall 2001 semester was no exception, as 199 Lehigh student-athletes earned recognition as honor roll students. To qualify, students must accumulate a 3.2 grade point average over the course of a semester.
Lehigh’s women’s soccer team led all fall varsity sports, with 14 honor roll student-athletes. The team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.34. The men’s track program led all sports, with 27 student-athletes making the grade. The women’s basketball squad paced the winter sports, with a team GPA of 3.25. The lady hoopsters placed seven players on the team.
We’re pleased with our students’ progress in the classroom, said women’s basketball head coach Sue Troyan. At Lehigh, the athletes know that their primary focus is to get an education, and as coaches, we stress that constantly.
In the latest NCAA survey, Lehigh graduated more student-athletes than any other Division I institution in the period from 1994-2001. Lehigh athletes graduated at a rate of 94% during that period. Lehigh Athletics was honored for that accomplishment at a ceremony last fall.
