During the November 16 campus conversation, the strategic planning working groups presented draft initiatives that emerged from conversations throughout the fall semester. These proposals originated as ideas or comments submitted to the portal or from comments provided at in-person sessions. All are now cataloged in the Idea Portal as “under consideration.”
This marks the beginning of the next phase of the strategic planning process, which can be considered the ‘discernment’ or analysis phase, when initiatives are beginning to be crafted and developed using the raw material of the full set of ideas.
The following evaluation criteria are being applied to proposed initiatives as they take shape over the next few months:
- Advancement of Lehigh’s mission
- Breadth and depth of potential impact (global, local, regional, national)
- Ability to build Lehigh’s distinction
- Lehigh’s capacity and feasibility to execute the initiative
In mid-December, working groups will submit additional draft initiatives to the Portal and the campus will be invited to submit feedback on those proposals as well. Once identified, the originating ideas will also be marked as “under consideration.”
January will be a quiet phase of the process when working groups will be finalizing the external review and evaluation of the proposed initiatives.
A draft of all proposed initiatives will be shared with the campus in February when the community will be invited to attend an event to provide real-time feedback. The draft will also be posted for comment.
