Renovations and improvements are transforming Lehigh campus

As students head back to campus, they’re noticing a number of exciting improvements that have taken place since last spring.
While there is tremendous enthusiasm over the transformation of the campus, there is also the practical impact of the construction activity. Navigating campus may be slightly more difficult. Some walkways have been redirected, a few parking lots have been closed and signs and fences appear on campus as a signal to everyone to respect construction areas. Major work being done at Linderman Library, Lamberton Hall and elsewhere will change campus parking as well as traffic patterns. As a result, students are likely to encounter some inconveniences at times.
In addition, the activity on the western end of campus (the extension of Brodhead Avenue, construction of a parking garage and an entrance court next to the Alumni Memorial Building) will present both parking and driving challenges. To relieve some of the parking challenges, the university has created a temporary lot for faculty and staff on the lawn at Maginnes Hall. This lot will be removed by the spring, when the parking garage opens.
Finally, taking a walk around the UC and Linderman Library may be a bit more challenging early this fall because of the “T” Road renovation, which is nearing completion. Vehicular traffic on University Drive from Packer Avenue up to the flagpole, west from there, to the stop sign in front of Packard Lab, and east to Memorial Walk, has been removed and will be replaced with a pedestrian zone similar in character to Memorial and Alumni walks.
