Pride. Passion. Tradition.
For the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, says head football coach Andy Coen, each season is actually comprised of two seasons.
The first season starts on opening day and ends after Game 10.
And the second? Well, the second season is all about just one gamethe annual showdown with Lehigh's rivals down the road, the Lafayette Leopards.
Lehigh and Lafayette have played out their annual football rivalry--a game now known simply as The Rivalry--150 times since their first meeting in 1884, making this the most played rivalry in all of college football. And each year, the game seems to take on even greater importance--not only for the players and coaches themselves, but for everyone associated with both institutions.
In advance of the 151st playing of The Rivalry, Lehigh visual storyteller Stephanie Veto spent the week with the Mountain Hawks as they prepared for the latest edition of this grand old rivalry. In interviews with players and coaches, she helps tell the story--at least from the Lehigh perspective--of what Lehigh-Lafayette is all about.
