Emergency Preparedness Test to Take Place Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 4 PM

As part of Lehigh’s ongoing emergency preparedness efforts, University Communications will conduct a test of the emergency communications on Lehigh’s website beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The test should last approximately 30 to 90 minutes. It should not have an adverse effect on normal website operations, though the visual appearance of the site will change during testing.

There will also be a test of the text messaging system, LU-Alert, as well as our mass e-mail communications. If you have not already done so, you can register for LU-Alerts by clicking here, then logging in and following the instructions listed on the site for registration.

Given the important role Lehigh’s website will play during a crisis, it is essential to conduct periodic testing of this functionality. Wednesday’s test will simulate the website- and Internet-related communication process that Lehigh would follow during an actual crisis. This will include adding emergency-related graphics and text to the site and ultimately switching over to a low-bandwidth or “lite” version of some of the university’s web pages. All affected graphics and text on the site will be clearly labeled with the word “test” to prevent any confusion.
