The College of Arts & Sciences is at the heart of Lehigh University and offers a wide variety of academic programs, as well as providing essential liberal arts access to all Lehigh students. Engage with faculty and students from the college while they share the value of a liberal arts education, whether your interests are in STEM, the social sciences or the humanities.

Founded and grounded in experiential learning, Rossin College students discover their passions and make real impact through groundbreaking research and working with expert faculty. Meet with current students, academic clubs and some members of Rossin faculty while also exploring our engineering spaces on campus.

• Mock Class | Brain Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence
  Location: Lewis Laboratory, Room 270
  This class will discuss brains as biological computers, describe the kinds of problems that have historically been easy for brains and difficult for digital/electronic computers and how AI scientists have closed this gap in many areas, but not all.

  The class will not require any prior knowledge of biology, computer science or AI. Students will learn about: mechanisms of biological computation (including memory and cognitive processes like attention); the disadvantages and advantages of using biological cells and tissue as computing hardware; the remarkable fact that our brains only use about 20W of power; the history and philosophy of trying to define intelligence and the ways in which neuroscience has informed the development of current AI algorithms.
  

• Mock Class | The Most Famous Philosophical Phrase: I Think, Therefore…
  Location: Whitaker Laboratory, Room 303
  Most everyone has heard the phrase “I think, therefore I am,” but few know the history of the idea and what it really means. For this class, we will discuss its origins and uses prior to Descartes before really digging into what he intended and what we all may read into it.
  
• Tour | Chemistry Labs Tour
  Location: Maginnes Hall, Lobby
  Take a tour of the STEM labs, try a few experiments that highlight key chemistry concepts you will learn about in general and organic chemistry, and take a bite of liquid nitrogen ice cream with a series of activities led by Elizabeth Young, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Ashley Arcidiacono, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Danny Laverty, Associate Professor of Chemistry.
  Be sure to arrive at the Maginnes Hall Lobby no later than 1:20 pm.

• Explore the Business Innovation Building
  Location: Business Innovation Building, Tauck Family Lobby
  Start by picking up your building guide in the Tauck Family Lobby and explore the Business Innovation Building. Along the way, connect with faculty, staff and students while discovering our dynamic hands-on spaces. Drop by the Ventures Lab business accelerator, explore portfolio management programs in the Financial Services Lab, and see student resources at the Rauch Center for Business Communication. You can also experience the new Behavioral Research Lab, learn about interdisciplinary pathways in the Intercollege Programs Suite and consult with academic advisors and career experts. Explore at your own pace and see how our community shapes the future of business.

• Mock Class | Stop the Outbreak! A Health Data Science Challenge
  Location: Health, Science and Technology Building, Room L185
  An infectious disease is spreading through a community. Using an interactive map and evolving health data, students will decide how to respond—where to test, whether to close a school, when to quarantine, where to target vaccination, etc. They will see how their decisions affect the course of the outbreak and learn how biostatistics, epidemiology, GIS and data science are used to guide real-world public health decisions.

• Design Labs at Wilbur Powerhouse
  Location: Wilbur Powerhouse
  Wilbur Powerhouse is home to some of the Design Labs' most interesting and accessible resources. Drop in to see our laser cutters, 3D printers, electronics, Robotics Design Studio, Makerspace and witness the tools every Lehigh student can access!

Join faculty, staff and students as they showcase the Art, Architecture and Design facilities at Mountaintop Campus. They will highlight the woodshop, studio spaces and the fascinating hands-on projects that students are working on.

There will be shuttles leaving from the Alumni Memorial Building circle at 2:05 PM. If you would like to drive yourself to Building C (113 Research Dr, Bethlehem, PA 18015), be sure to arrive no later than 2:10 PM.

Explore Lehigh is a first-semester program for students with a wide range of academic interests who want to explore multiple fields before selecting a college or major. Through an integrative course and two additional courses of their choice, students engage with disciplines from across Lehigh’s four undergraduate colleges: the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Health, the College of Business and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering & Applied Science. With personalized advising, the program builds a strong foundation for informed, meaningful academic decisions and highlights how fields connect to address real-world challenges.
