UMOJA House at Lehigh University

The UMOJA House opened its doors in Fall 1989 at Lehigh University and for 30 years Umoja, which means "unity" in Swahili, has fostered a community of student residents and leaders through shared exploration of diversity and multiculturalism.


Lehigh vs. Lafayette: #Rivalry155

Lehigh battled back but ultimately fell short in the 155th edition of the most played rivalry in all of college football. 


Addressing Global Health Challenges in Sierra Leone

In early August 2019, 23 Global Social Impact Fellows arrived in Sierra Leone to conduct field work on projects designed to fight hunger and disease and increase global awareness of health crises. While their research and projects varied, the Lehigh students had a shared goal—sustainable impact.

Welcome Lehigh Class of 2023

Orientation was jam-packed with events to welcome in Lehigh University’s class of 2023. Lead by Orientation Leaders, first-year students’ days were filled with informative sessions, rallies and meetings. From MOOV-In Day to Convocation, the first four days on campus were something the new Lehigh family members will never forget.

Lehigh University, its partners in the community and the City of Bethlehem join forces to foster South Bethlehem’s resurgence. In the two decades since local steelmaking operations ended at the Bethlehem Steel Corp., the South Side of Bethlehem is having its moment.


Matt McBride Never Forgets His Lehigh Roots

Matt McBride's long professional baseball career took root at Lehigh University, a place he has never forgotten. Now with the Philadelphia Phillies' Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley IronPigs, McBride is back home, making it even easier for him to continue his close relationship with his alma mater.


Digitizing Medieval Manuscripts

Since 2016, Lehigh University has been working with 15 partner institutions, to complete the digitization and online presentation of virtually all of the region’s medieval manuscripts–a total of almost 160,000 pages from more than 400 individual volumes. The grant was awarded by the Council on Library and Information Resource


The Rotating Wheel Rayleigh Taylor Instability Experiment

Arindam Banerjee and his students developed the Rotating Wheel Rayleigh Taylor Instability Experiment, an experiment that studies two-fluid mixing to mimic inertial confinement fusion. The lab, known as the Turbulent Mixing Laboratory, took Lehigh students five years to build from scratch.

Lehigh University’s 151st Spring Commencement

Lehigh University welcomed graduates into the alumni family during the 151st Commencement Ceremony on Monday, May 20, 2019. Former U.S. Ambassador to India Richard Verma ’90 urged the young graduates to maximize the unprecedented opportunities they have been given to face a problem-plagued world with “the humility and responsibility that comes with power.”

Lehigh Student Senate hosted their first annual Dîner en Blanc, a dinner celebration to culminate the 2018-19 academic year with undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff.

Deep Sea Coral Research

Santiago Herrera is a Lehigh University professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on understanding the consequences of interactions between marine life and their environment, from geological to organismal time scales.


A Passion for Solving Problems

Lehigh University alum, Matt Bilsky, '12, '14G, '17 Ph.D., is an innovator and entrepreneur dedicated to solving life's problems. He discusses making his Lehigh experience his own and the next chapter in his life.

Lehigh Leaps Over Leopards in Fourth Straight Rivalry Win - 2018

The Lehigh University Mountain Hawks defeated the Lafayette College Leopards, 34-3, during the 154th Rivalry Game at Fisher Stadium on November 17th, 2018.
