Resources for Students

A message sent to undergraduate and graduate students.

Dear Undergraduate and Graduate Students,

I wanted to follow up regarding the recent news of the death of a student, Yuehan Wang. Whether you knew him from classes, student organizations, or social settings, or did not know him, as a member of the Lehigh community his passing affects all of us in some way. The death of someone within our immediate community can evoke strong emotions of shock and sadness. It is okay to need and to ask for help. Student Affairs staff and resources are available for counseling and other support to those who may need it.

For some of us, processing emotions is best done with close members of our community: friends, family, mentors, and trusted others. We encourage you to find such spaces to access the supports that resonate with you.

At Lehigh, these also include the following:

  • Should you wish to talk with one of our counselors, the members of the University Counseling and Psychological Services are available and able to be another supportive resource.

  • Undergraduate and graduate students may contact UCPS and make an individual appointment by calling (610) 758- 3880, emailing incso@lehigh.edu or following @lehigh_UCPS on Instagram to sign up for workshops.

  • Undergraduate and graduate students also may speak with a licensed clinical professional through My SSP, which is available remotely 24/7 in multiple languages.

  • The Chaplain’s Office offers pastoral care and spiritual guidance. You can contact them at (610) 758-3877.

  • International students can contact the Office of International Students and Scholars at (610) 758-4859 or intnl@lehigh.edu. You can also schedule an appointment with an advisor in iHome (under General Services).

We are in contact with the family and will both respect their wishes and help facilitate any more public observance that might involve the Lehigh community. In the meantime, we encourage you to take advantage of these resources, take care of yourselves, and support each other.

Sincerely,

Ricardo Hall

Vice President for Student Affairs
