New Changes to Campus Access and Reminders for Extended Building Hours During Final Exam

A message sent to members of the Lehigh community on May 9, 2023.

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

As was communicated Friday, several academic buildings will be open for extended hours during the final exam period to provide additional access to study spaces on campus.

***NEW - IMMEDIATE CHANGES TO CAMPUS ACCESS:

In addition, beginning 7:00 AM this morning, May 9, we are making buildings accessible by card swipe ONLY during the exam period. Campus buildings will not be unlocked during the normally scheduled times of 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM. This change will be in effect throughout the exam period. Exceptions to this new schedule will be the Alumni Memorial Building and Zoellner Arts Center which will both remain unlocked during the day. Future messaging will follow regarding building access after final exams.

Students, faculty, and staff will be able to access all locations by card during the hours of 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM. Previously designated study buildings will remain accessible 24/7. All students, graduate students, faculty, and staff with additional specialized access to any space on campus will retain that access with these changes.

Students, faculty and staff should keep their Lehigh ID with them to avoid issues with gaining access to the spaces they need. All members of our community are reminded not to grant access to any unknown persons.***

The following locations will be accessible by card swipe 24 hours per day.

Chandler-Ullmann Hall

Williams Hall

Rauch Business Center

Packard Lab

STEPS Building

Maginnes Hall

Business Innovation Building (**Designated QUIET STUDY SPACE)

Building C

As a reminder, the HST Building is designated a QUIET STUDY SPACE and will not be accessible 24 hours per day. The HST Building will remain on the current building access schedule. Any collaborative study efforts must be limited to conference rooms so that studying activity does not disturb others. Ongoing research activity in the HST Building cannot be disturbed. Please remember that many open spaces in HST are designated for research teams and are off-limits to those who are not part of those teams. All common spaces available for general use are clearly marked with signs to indicate the space may be used for a QUIET STUDY SPACE.

Additional Lehigh Security Guards will be on duty at various hours and overnight hours on both the Asa Packer and Mountaintop campuses. Walking or driving safety escorts can be requested at any time by calling Campus Safety at 610.758.4200. Virtual safety escorts are always available on the HawkWatch app.

Sincerely,
