The Lehigh College of Business FLEX MBA part-time online program is updating its curriculum to focus on technology, leadership and relevance of the curriculum to individual students and their workplaces.

The new curriculum introduces an applied capstone engagement experience, utilizing the students’ newly acquired skills to analyze a challenge for their current employer. The curriculum leading up to the capstone assignment integrates all the skills and practical training students need to successfully complete their capstone projects. The process concludes with a presentation of their findings to their employer.

The revised FLEX MBA program will expand leadership education to include personal, relational and team leadership skills as well as experiences addressing inclusive, inspirational and ethical leadership situations. “The management of change and innovation is key to the program,” said Oliver Yao, associate dean for graduate programs. “These skills are crucial to our students’ future success.”

The final element of the new FLEX MBA program is weaving data generation, analysis and visualization throughout the curriculum, engaging students in management positions as well as those working in data sciences, finance and accounting.

“The goal of the new design of the FLEX MBA core curriculum is to train managers to ask the right questions, about building data and the methodologies they use to analyze data, when working with data scientists, accountants, and financial analysts,” said Yao. “We are training managers to express the goals of data analysis and how analyses will be used in evaluating and prescribing business practices.”

“We are very proud of the current success of our FLEX MBA program but we must innovate to stay competitive,” said Georgette Chapman Phillips, Kevin L. and Lisa A. Clayton Dean, Lehigh University College of Business. “Leadership in the post pandemic business world demands technological skills combined with nimbleness of decision making. Our revised curriculum provides a learning platform for both.”

The Lehigh Business FLEX MBA program is at #9 in the 2022 Poets & Quants online MBA rankings and #24 in the 2022 U.S. News and World Report online MBA programs rankings.

Prospective students can apply now to start in summer 2023. Learn more about the new FLEX MBA part-time online program.
