1.25.23: A message to students about the continuing search for Daniel

A message sent to Lehigh undergraduate and graduate students from Ricardo Hall, Vice President for Student Affairs.

Dear Undergraduate and Graduate Students,

I wanted to share an update with you regarding the continuing search for Daniel Lee. We want students to know that the Lehigh University Police Department (LUPD), Bethlehem Police Department (BPD), and other law enforcement organizations are continuing their search and encourage anyone in the community with potential information that may be helpful in locating Daniel to share it with police by calling campus safety at 610-758-4200 or by reporting a tip through Hawkwatch.

Since LUPD’s message over the weekend, police are following available leads and tips that are reported and continuing their search efforts through all means, including electronic, and following state protocols regarding procedures for missing persons. As shared previously, foul play is not suspected and based on the investigation, there is no known danger or threat to our community that is connected to this incident.

Even as we begin a new semester this week, Daniel, his family, and those close to him are at the forefront of our hearts and minds. For anyone in the Lehigh community who may be struggling to cope during this challenging time, counselors and counseling services are available. The University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCPS) office can be reached at 610-758-3880. Please reach out for help if you need it, as well as seek support and strength from one another.

Our deepest thanks go out to law enforcement who continue to work diligently to locate Daniel, and to everyone in the Lehigh community who has expressed their support and wishes for Daniel’s well-being and return.

Sincerely,

Ricardo Hall

Vice President for Student Affairs
